From Radio Sintonia:
Antigua recovers the stone walls that border roads and highways.
The Antigua City Council executes the arrangement of stone walls adjacent to roads and highways. The Heritage Department rebuilds those that border the roadsides of Triquivijate, acting soon in Valles de Ortega.
The Mayor of Antigua, Matías Peña and the Councilor for Works, Services and Historical Heritage, Juan Cabrera, have visited the reconstruction works that the City Council of Antigua is carrying out these days on the side of the Triquivijate road.
The Councilor for Heritage, Juan Cabrera points out that "we want to progressively restore the walls that line the margins of the access roads to the towns of the Municipality, beautifying and cleaning the sides of the road" and adds, and in turn with the arrangement of these stone walls we guarantee the containment of uneven ground in some of the sections of the road or path ».
The reconstruction of approximately half a meter high, is made with the same type of stone that previously supported it, using the white flagstone that was once unearthed and used for walls and walls.
"The progressive reconstruction of the adjoining roads and paved roads not only beautify these steps and accesses but also give consistency to the terrain, avoiding displacement of earth or stones to the roads due to rain or natural channels of rainwater", according to Mayor Matías Pain
The action has begun in Triquivijate, running during the next three months, to continue later with the reconstruction of stone walls in Valles de Ortega.
