Corralejo hotel to be re-branded
#1
The Hesperia Bristol Playa hotel in Corralejo is to be re-branded next year as the "Amigo Fuerteventura Resort".  This follows the appointment of American company AMResorts to handle the branding and sales of the hotel.  The owners of the hotel, Grupo Inversor Hesperia, will inject millions of euros to upgrade the hotel, which is expected to open under the new brand in May 2019.

AMResorts is a resort brand management company with 55 resorts and 21,000 rooms in its current portfolio, plus 10,000 more under development. The company provides sales, marketing and brand management services for Zoëtry® Wellness & Spa Resorts, Secrets®, Breathless®, Dreams®, Now® and Sunscape® Resorts & Spas. It is one of six companies that comprise ALG, North America’s only vertically integrated hospitality company.  The appointment by Hesperia to handle 4 of their hotels in Europe is AMResorts' first venture in Europe.

The new Amigo Fuerteventura Resort will feature a family-friendly 3-star format, with choices of bed & breakfast, half board and all-inclusive meal plans.

It would be much better news if they bought one of the unfinished hotels on the east side IMHO. Or is there some other reason why nobody is interested in buying any of them?

Certainly, but note that AMResorts aren't buying the hotel, they've just been appointed to re-brand it and sell rooms.  The unfinished developments are a massive eyesore.

Yeah, If they & a lot of other people were able to buy it would be great !! Just need to get the banks to release their death grip on the repossessed properties they would rather keep as an artificially inflated “asset” on their books than sell at a realistic & justifiable price !!

Just think how much it would help the tourist trade & the general housing market if they were forced to release these properties in a timely manner. Lots of locals might even be able to afford to buy a house instead of renting at ridiculous prices Rolleyes

Great news about the refurbishment / upgrade  and rebranding.

Re all the empty shells where presumably the developer has gone bust, only yesterday I was told that the bankruptcy laws are different in Spain to UK and that whilst the banks may now be holding the properties if one of the smaller creditors doesn't / hasn't  accept the terms of say 0.10€ in the 1.00€ any new developer becomes liable for the previous debt, hence them sitting with nothing happening.  Now someone may tell me I have been given a porky here, happy to be corrected and educated in Spanish / Island laws.
