What is place between Caleta  and Triquiviate? Looks like a quarry/stoneworks or cement works. You could see clouds of dust hanging between the mountains. Must be damaging the the air quality.
And there's also a guy on the FV2 towards Tarajalejo who kicks up loads of dust with his builders merchant.
Isn't anyone monitoring these businesses? Crazy!

Have seen this one with a dust cloud every time we are out, also assumed it was a quarry or at least a stone processing plant of some kind

My understanding is that this is, indeed, a cement works. The island is rich in limestone which is heat-processed to produce cement, hence all of the historical ‘hornos’ found pretty much everywhere!

It is a cement works.  It's been there for years.

I once overheard a tourist, telling another tourist, while we were on the Caleta to Puerto bus - 'that's the crematorium'

Not sure when your picture was taken Archer but the wind must make it appear worse, I know when there was ground works going on near us on the golf course 18 months a go the dust was particularly bad on windy days.

WG. Picture taken yesterday. That dust cloud seemed be heading towards Caleta chipmonk mount. Not nice all that dust in the atmosphere.

What are the authorities (Cabildo) doing to curb it? There are ways that dust can be 'captured' from works like that, and the building trade has strict restrictions.

Just because it's been there for years doesn't mean a bad practice should be accepted!!

I suppose if they spread some slurry on it it might keep it down.
