The Cabildo cancels all events for the next 3 months

The Fuerteventura Cabildo (Island Council) have today announced that all Events have been cancelled for the next 3 months.

This affects the three biggest Events on the island - the FEAGA agricultural show and fair, the Feria de Artesania(Craft Fair) in Antigua and the Baile de Taifas (Canarian Day dances on 29 May).

What a shame but sensible to cancel now so everyone knows what is happening, or not!

The Antigua City Council suspends all public Events scheduled in the next three months

As a precautionary and preventive measure to definitively stop the contagion by COVID-19, the public Events scheduled for the next three months, such as patron festivals, the Insular Crafts Fair and sports gatherings, are suspended.

The Antigua City Council announces the suspension of public Events whose celebration is scheduled during the months of April, May and June.

The mayor, Matías Peña García, appreciates the attitude, commitment and collaboration of all the residents of the Municipality, maintaining absolute and general respect for the measures adopted during the State of Alarm with the common purpose of stopping the spread of the Coronavirus or COVID -19.

In order to safeguard the health of residents of the Municipality, not only at this time but also with preventive measures for the more immediate future, from the City of Antigua we see the adoption of a series of measures in the next three months, always guaranteeing the adequate provision of the necessary public services, affirms the municipal councillor.

The Antigua City Council establishes and publishes preventive measures to reduce the risk of exposure and, likewise, action procedures for different cases that may occur, also including recommendations for promoting social distancing as the most effective technique for containing the current scenario.

All Events, patron festivals, sports and leisure Events in the municipality of Antigua are suspended for the next three months, without prejudice to extensions and additional measures that may be adopted.

Among the suspended Events is the celebration of the April Fair in Caleta de Fuste, the Insular Craft Fair scheduled for May, as well as the Triquivijate and Los Alares patron saint festivals, the acts of celebration of the Canary Islands Day, as well as municipal sports schools and sporting Events such as the Antigua Motor Slalom, the Barceló Caleta de Fuste Mile and possible Sports Days planned in these three months of suspension.
