‘car ayuntamiento letter tax’

‘Car tax’ letter from ayuntamiento
#1
I’ve got two cars here, and today I received two missives, one for each, from Antigua Ayuntamiento. Each covers the annual payment of the impuesto for the vehicle, including details of how to pay etc. We are still within the reduced-fee period, so each is just for €71.94. I did, however, pay both impuestos at the Ayuntamiento office in Caleta on 29 September - I have both ‘justificante de pagos’ and my bank card payment receipt.

Now, at the top of each letter it does have printed ‘Recibo’ (receipt), but I’ve never had one by mail before, and it would seem a bit pointless when Ai got a receipt at point of payment. I can go down to the Ayuntamiento and sort it out, but just wondered if anyone else has received the same? If they are sending out receipts this year, I won’t be alone. My Spanish is OK, I’ve read the whole letter back and front, just not entirely clear what this is!

Hi. I purchased a car here last year, in November. About Cars said that the tax had been paid for the year. I am guessing that soon this year's tax will be due. I am also in Antigua. Can anyone let me know where about at the town hall I can go to, to resolve. I have been there before but it is some years back. Final one - will they accept direct debit like I do for house tax. Any guidance appreciated. Thanks

I use the town Hall in Caleta which is opposite Fado Rock, car tax payments seem to change between September and October, and they will not take a payment outside set dates when they are this year I have as yet no idea, I need to find out for myself, when I do, I will let you know

Many thanks... Popping into the Caleta office would appear to be pretty straight forward. Famous last words! 😂

On the back of the car tax form (which you should get in the post) there is a link to where you can pay online. I always do that as it is much easier, and you get a receipt that you can download.

problem with that is there is one guy who handles taxes and he is not always there, and if you ask when will he be, or even where is, he all you get is a shrug of the shoulders.

As mentioned yesterday, I went to pay my car tax this morning. Initially, I went to the Caleta office but to no avail, basically there us a sign on the desk with an email address or suggested visiting the Town Hall in Antigua. So I went for the latter. On arriving at the Town Hall, for anyone who hasn't been there before to pay taxes follow the left stairs downwards and the desk is on the left, I joined a small queue and was seen in a few minutes. The chap explained that taxes for cars will be collected in September/October. I asked could I set up a Direct Debit and not only did the guy say yes but also kindly filled out the DD Mandate for me. I then had to take the mandate upstairs so the cashiers could authorise and gave me a copy. All pretty straight forward really.

Excellent result then, that’s very useful to know for the future when I retire and plan to buy a car over there
