The mobile telephony operators begin offering 4G services in the 800MHz band in Puerto del Rosario

· The new technology will allow citizens of the capital city to enjoy high-speed mobile data services, improve coverage inside buildings and expand the geographical area

· Llega800 is the entity in charge of guaranteeing the compatibility of this 4G service with DTT in the 800MHz band

The Department of New Technologies of the City of Puerto del Rosario, led by Javier Ledo, informs that mobile telephony operators, Telefónica, Vodafone and Orange, are already offering services in Puerto del Rosario over the 4G network in the 800MHz band, which will allow the residents of this municipality to enjoy high-speed mobile connections over LTE (4G) technology with better coverage inside the buildings and greater geographic extension. To guarantee the compatibility of the new technology with Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT), the operators have launched Llega800, entity in charge of solving any problem in the reception of the television signal.

With the arrival of the new 4G to Puerto del Rosario, the implementation process is being carried out gradually throughout the national geography. The 4G deployment is part of the provisions of Royal Decree 805/2014, of September 19, dated April 1, 2015, in which the frequencies between 790 and 862 MHz were released (channels 61 to 69 of UHF) that up then they were used for the reception of Digital Terrestrial Television, a process also known as Digital Dividend. Thereafter, these frequencies were assigned to mobile telephony operators to provide their 4G mobile telephony services.

Main advantages: more and better coverage

With the 4G network has opened the door to innovative services and applications, in addition to providing significant improvements in both the speed of download, and data transmission - pictures, music or high-definition audiovisual content - or allow to get the most out of online applications, such as video games.

The 4G mobile phone network introduces two fundamental improvements. The first is the solvency of the various problems related to complicated orographies present in the Spanish geography where coverage traditionally failed. The second is the great penetration in interior areas of buildings.

The new generation of 4G technology also facilitates the introduction of new services in the business area and public administrations, such as mobile business applications with high multimedia content or the use of video calls, among others.

In addition, the greater coverage that reaches the 4G in the 800MHz band will improve the service inside buildings and will be the band that allows to extend the service geographically efficiently.

Ensuring the compatibility of 4G and DTT

Llega800 is the managing entity in charge of offering the services that will guarantee the compatibility between the start-up of the 4G emission in the 800 MHz band and the reception of the DTT service.

To ensure this compatibility, Llega800 provides citizens with a series of free services that include, on the one hand, a previous action, thanks to which citizens residing in areas of greater affectation will receive a communication at home that will inform them that from that moment, they will be able to request the adaptation of the antenna of their building free of charge to avoid possible incidents.

And, on the other hand, a corrective procedure, after the lighting of the stations, by the que llega800 will take care of the affected users, managing and resolving possible damages at no cost.

To manage these services, a free telephone number (900 833 999) and a website www.llega800.es have been made available to citizens.
