The City Council of La Oliva has launched an ambitious smart video surveillance project so that Police services have one more tool in security and mobility
Backed by what the city council calls "state-of-the-art technology and a commitment to providing a safer environment for all, this system, made up of 65 strategically placed cameras, is now operational, marking a milestone in municipal innovation."
The mayor of La Oliva, Isaí Blanco, highlighted the importance of this initiative: "The implementation of this intelligent video surveillance system demonstrates our firm commitment to the safety of our citizens. It is a fundamental tool to meet modern challenges in terms of security and mobility."
The cameras, installed at strategic points such as main entrances, roundabouts and areas of high affluence, not only allow the monitoring of traffic and road safety, but also the surveillance of spaces with a large concentration of people. The sub-inspector of the Local Police of La Oliva, Jorge Fleitas, highlighted the system's ability to improve incident response: "This technology gives us a comprehensive view of the situation in real time, which allows us to act more efficiently in any eventuality."
The traffic control and monitoring center, located in the facilities of the Local Police in Corralejo, constitutes the operational heart of this system, covering various localities of the municipality, such as Corralejo, La Capellanía, Parque Holandés, Caldereta, La Oliva, Villaverde, Los Lajares and El Cotillo.
Soon, state-of-the-art license plate readers will be incorporated at several strategic points, further expanding the detection and intervention capacity.
