Arrested for stealing €10,750 worth of perfume at airport.
Perfume shops at Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria airports were robbed on three occasions
The Civil Guard of Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura carried out an investigation that led to the arrest on October 21 of two people aged 31 and 28, as alleged perpetrators of a continuous crime of theft, by stealing, on up to three occasions, perfumes valued at 10,751 euros. These thefts were carried out in the "duty free" shops that are located in the security areas of the airports of Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria.
The Civil Guard of Fuerteventura airport began an investigation as a result of the complaints formalized on October 5 and 7 by the person in charge of the establishment affected by the thefts.
Apparently, those in charge of the establishment noticed the theft of the perfumes, after carrying out the inventory in which they detected a significant loss of perfumery products.
Immediately, the Fiscal and Border Section collected all the information and carried out the Police investigations with the analysis of the frames of the security cameras, calling their attention that a couple on two different days goes to the establishment to allegedly steal gender.
Procedure for Thefts
The exchange of information between the Prosecutor's and Border units of both airports was decisive in detecting and identifying the alleged perpetrators, given that this couple acquired plane tickets to access the security zone at the last moment and thus make it difficult to detect them.
The precautions taken by the alleged perpetrators were not enough to prevent their location, as they were arrested by the Civil Guard of Gran Canaria airport on October 21, when they were detected at the exit of said airport, carrying 16 perfumes and recognizing them, the theft of said perfumes in shops at the airport.
For all these reasons, the first proceedings were carried out and delivered to the Guard Court of Puerto del Rosario, later the detainees were placed at the judicial disposal of the Guard Court of Telde, as well as the extension proceedings.
