A British tourist has scattered this week on the coast of Lanzarote the ashes of Peter Sutcliffe, known as "the Yorkshire Ripper", a multiple murderer who killed thirteen women in the United Kingdom between 1975 and 1980, according to the newspaper "The Sun".
The tabloid cites as a source the testimony of the woman who claims to have taken to a beach in the municipality of Tías, during a holiday trip, the urn with the remains of Sutcliffe, who died of COVID-19 in November 2020 at the age of 74.
"I promised Peter that I would scatter his ashes in a nice, sunny place when I went on a trip," the woman, who regularly visited Sutcliffe in prison and asked not to be identified, told The Sun.
"I know people will think it's appalling, but as far as I'm concerned, I was fulfilling the wishes of a dying old man. I wanted to be in a better and happier place," the woman added.
Peter William Sutcliffe worked as an undertaker in the town of Bingley, Yorkshire. He was arrested in 1981 and sentenced to life imprisonment.
The story of his crimes is told, in four episodes, by the documentary series of the Netflix platform "The ripper" (2020), broadcast in Spain with the title "The Yorkshire Ripper".
