Hi guest and welcome to the Fuerteventura forum. This is just a reminder of mandatory masks almost everywhere on the island.

Bank cheque validity

Does anyone know how long a bank cheque is valid for?
We picked up a cheque from our branch in Gran Tarajal (speak little English) as part payment for a property purchase (private sale) and there has been a delay in signing the contract.
I sent an e-mail to the bank and they said contact the branch - DOH
I always imagined that a cheque was valid for 6 months universally but does anyone know for sure?

Cheques were always considered stale dated after six months but some individual cheques and warrants issued by governments have a shorter shelf life that is stated on the item.

As Perry said, cheques issued in Fuerteventura / Spain are valid for six months. But if it's out of date, you could ask in the branch for it to be reissued.

We have a little while to go yet but should be OK then.
