Cabildo will distribute food and medicine at home to people in vulnerable situations
#1
The 'You are not alone, together we will do it' program includes a home delivery service for purchases of basic necessities

The Cabildo will distribute food in their homes to vulnerable families with the 'They are not alone, together we will do it' program, in addition to facilitating the distribution of pharmaceutical products, medicines or food to people who lack support networks or are in a situation of dependency.

The program, which will begin to be applied starting this Monday, March 23, consists of two lines of action.

The first, aimed at individuals and families in situations of vulnerability or at risk of social exclusion, includes free delivery of food kits at home to guarantee food to those who need it, with a total of 1,000 kits initially available.

The second line of action is aimed at older people without support networks or people in situations of dependency, for whom an assistance service has been set up to purchase essential products, such as food or pharmaceutical products, facilitating logistics and carrying shopping to home.

The objective is "to help those who need it most and those who are most affected by the extraordinary measures derived from the alarm caused by the Coronavirus," explained the counsellor for Social Policies, Training and Human Resources, Víctor Alonso, for whom, in addition, in this way " displacement is avoided to the most vulnerable people, such as the elderly, who are the ones with the most reason to stay at home, ”he reasoned.

The "They are not alone, together we will do it" program of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura has the collaboration of the Mahore Association of social intervention, HiperDino, Padilla Spar Supermarkets, Pedrín Logistics and the six municipalities of the island.

To qualify for the program, a telephone service number has been set up (609400845), Monday through Friday from 09:00 to 13:00 and 17:00 to 20:00, as well as an email: programacovid19@cabildofuer.es

As an ex pat, I would prefer to use and email (programacovid19@cabildofuer.es) and any from both sides of the conversation can use an online translator like GoogleTranslate. If that's too difficult, contact me over the PM system here, using email (click@fuerteventura.click) or simply write a shot message here and me or one of our helpful members will try our best to help.

Thanks for letting us know, Milestone.

They only started today, possibly some kind of hiccup. Would you mind to call them tomorrow and let us know?

Note the times, please:
Monday - Friday from 09:00 to 13:00 & 17:00 to 20:00

Not a problem Sam, I will gladly phone them and pass on details including whether English is spoken.
I happen to be in the lucky position of having a neighbour who makes regular contact and is perfectly happy to get a few items from the supermarket for me. Sadly, not all are in that enviable position. I happen to be in the vulnerable group and would rather not go out unless absolutely necessary.

Hello Milestone
Not sure what part of the island you are in but if you're in the north I can always stand in as a personal shopper if the need arises. You're welcome to PM me to make arrangements if required, just note I don't normally log on until latish evenings.
Keep safe!

Thanks Tamara, yes, I'm in Corralejo. Thanks for the offer, I'm in the enviable position of having neighbours who will get most things that I need. Took myself to Marcial for potting compost because I didn't have the temerity to ask them to get that. Nice to know though, that Mercadona are pulling the oldies out of the queue and giving them priority.
I've recently recovered from pneumonia which hospitalised me for three weeks so there's a certain reluctance on my part to take unnecessary risks.

As expected, the number which the Cabildo has given is unobtainable. Dialling 609400845 leads to an automated message, in Spanish only, saying that the number called, 639201191 is unobtainable. Whether one would get any response on the supplied email, I don't know, I haven't tried. As a matter of interest, I shall try that later but I'm doubtful that the response will be any different.

One has to laugh, else you'd bloody cry.
Having tried repeatedly to telephone this service without success, I have, as mentioned earlier, tried to email them. Don't bother phoning. Don't bother emailing. The email resulted in this,
Quote:The given E-Mail address "programacovid19@cabildofuer.es." is invalid.
