The counselor, who was accompanied by the director of the Canarian Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society, Carlos Navarro, and by Moisés Santana, managing director of the Canarian Association of Startups, Technology-Based Companies and Angel Investors (EMERGE) – coordinator of the Innovate Canarias project -, explained that the two parties can mutually benefit in a two-way process: "The Canary Islands is a platform and gateway from Europe to Africa and, even, due to its own economic and fiscal characteristics, also access to the European and African market. There is also an interest on the part of Israel in connecting with our companies, knowing our innovation ecosystem and collaborating with those sectors where we have comparative advantages."
