About two tons of cocaine seized in a fishing boat south of Fuerteventura.
A joint operation of the National Police with the French OFAST and the British NCA, coordinated by the MAOC-N, has allowed to board in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean a fishing boat loaded with cocaine that was going to be exported to Europe. Despite the fact that the crew tried to get rid of the drug they were transporting hidden, the Police authorities have intervened almost two tons of cocaine and have arrested seven people. The investigation has confirmed that the fishing vessel was going to export significant quantities of cocaine from Brazil to Europe, having coordinated the collection of the drug in a geographical point between Cape Verde and the Canary Islands.
The investigation was launched in early 2022 thanks to international Police collaboration. After the efforts made by the National Police in conjunction with the French and British authorities, the agents identified a criminal organization with the capacity to send to Europe, via Spain, important consignments of cocaine.

With the progress of the investigations, it was possible to prove that the investigated organization had chartered a fishing boat to export a significant amount of cocaine from Brazil to Europe. In addition, they had coordinated the collection of the drug in a geographical point between Cape Verde and the Canary Islands.
Faced with the possibility that those responsible for the transport could send, from the African contender to the stipulated point of transshipment, EAV (high-speed boats), the French authorities chartered an assault boat to board the mother ship as soon as it was located.
The French Navy intercepted the fishing boat sailing without a flag. After carrying out the pertinent steps, they confirmed that it was a pirate ship, which prevented it from being related to any country.
