The action contemplates the improvement of the access and the esplanade dedicated to the activity of the current commercial maritime traffic, passing the set of 16,500 m² to 48,500 m². In this way, the work will enhance the commercial area intended for regular passenger traffic, as well as the land surface for the development of activities related to sports and recreational vessels.

That all looks great MLA. A breakwater & marina like that would do wonders for Caleta as well, to close to PDR for the cruises but the rest looks good

Great looking plan. Pretty much the same as that 'approved' for Morro Jable some 6 years ago. Even had photos in the press of Puerto Calero boss from Lanzarote signing the agreement. Budget 15million, I think, as well.

Has anything happened? Do pigs fly?

Good luck. Hope it really happens.

We've stopped at the apartments near to the harbour a couple of times. One year there was some work going on which involved the prolonged use of what sounded like abrasive cutting power tools for 2 days or so. The noise echoing round the harbour area was incredible, so if this work does happen I think we'll be giving the area a wide birth whenever we come over. It's a bit of a shame really because I can easily while away a few hours on the balcony watching the harbour traffic come and go.
We'll see I guess.

From RTVAC today:

The Ministry of Public Works, Transportation and Housing tenders for 2.5 million euros the expansion of berths in the Port of Corralejo, in Fuerteventura.
With the new works, the number of swamps will be expanded and the number of berths of the inner dock of this pier will double to give way to the wide waiting list that exists for this port

The Ministry of Public Works, Transportation and Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands, led by Sebastián Franquis, through the public entity Puertos Canarios, has put out to tender Phase I of the Extension of the Port of Corralejo, in the municipality of La Oliva, Fuerteventura Island, some works that go to competition for 2,539,268 euros, and with which it is expected to double the current number of berths for fishing and sports boats in the inner harbor of the port.

The works that are now being tendered will focus mainly on the acquisition and installation of new swamps until they reach nine, which will allow reaching 423 berths, 207 more than the current ones. Currently the five swamps of this port offer 216 berths to recreational, sports and fishing boats mainly, but due to the tourist development of the town, the demand for berths in the inner dock has skyrocketed in recent years generating a waiting list nearby at one hundred boats.

For the expansion of the dock, it is planned to install a floating concrete breakwater dike that will last up to 72 meters and that will protect from the southeastern storms that usually affect this port with some frequency.

The pantalanes are made up of 12-meter modules with tropical or resin wood pavement and aluminum structure, as well as the fingers, docking support elements fixed to the ground. In addition, the action includes the disassembly, removal and new assembly of the current swamps updating the existing services in them.

These works also include improvements in the concrete docking area used by commercial lines and for Civil Guard vessels. In addition, attached to this space and to the breakwater dike, in the future Screen 1, a space will be created for docking points for boats of more than 13.5 meters in length, and more than 300 meters of line for berths at the side.

The deadline for the execution of the works is eight months from the signing of the stakeout act with the company that is awarded, so it is expected that the expansion of the Port of Corralejo will be available at the beginning of the year 2021.
