The Civil Guard of the Main Post of Vecindario, within the framework of Operation Gertrude, arrested on August 13 9 people including 7 men and 2 women and investigates another 4, some of them with antecedents, for the crimes of belonging to a criminal group and crime against public health (drug trafficking), by intervening in several homes in the town of Vecindario various narcotic substances, heavy tools, a taser, knives and Money.
Knowledge of the facts
The Police investigation began last April following various neighborhood complaints, which reported a constant transfer of drug addicts heading to two homes located in the neighborhood of Balos (Vecindario).
Start and development of the investigation
After verifying the veracity of these complaints and the result of extensive investigative work by members of the investigation area of the Civil Guard of Vecindario, the Police operation begins with the pertinent steps to locate the alleged perpetrators of the criminal acts and their corresponding homes.
The Civil Guard in the exercise of its functions carries out the appropriate investigations with surveillance and follow-ups, being able to verify that one of the investigated was not only in charge of periodically supplying the other house, but also moved in his private vehicle to various homes located throughout the municipality, in order to provide them with the drug for later sale.
Also, after several months of investigations, it was possible to identify up to four more homes to which this person supplied the drug in order to carry out the work of selling their merchandise. Therefore, the leader of the criminal group carried out the home sales and in his absence used his brother-in-law, who was a minor, to prevent the business from stopping.
Entry and Registration
Due to the indications and evidence that were detected and when obtaining sufficient suspicions about the location of possible points of sale of drugs in several homes, judicial authorization was requested to proceed with the corresponding entries and searches, being a total of seven.
Therefore, in the early morning of August 13, a large Police deployment was carried out, where various narcotic substances were intervened, proceeding to carry out the narcotest test to the content of the wrappers found, yielding a positive result in cocaine, hashish and amphetamine.
Accordingly, agents seized 9.5 kg of hashish, 76 grams of cocaine, 55.5 grams of marijuana, 21 grams of hashish pollen, 113 pills and smaller amounts of MDMA and amphetamines. They were also found 1,733 euros in fractional bills of different value, in addition to knives, a taser, and different tools for weighing and handling narcotic substances.
It should be noted that despite the fact that the leader of the criminal group had no known job, this person owned several vehicles and boats, enjoying stays in four-star hotels with members of his family.
The detainees, together with the proceedings instructed for this purpose, were at the disposal of the Acting Court of Guard of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, meaning that the substances intervened will be sent to the Functional Area of Health of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, to proceed with the weighing analysis and study of it.
