A 68-year-old man dies from drowning in Fuerteventura.
A 68-year-old man has died in Grandes Playas, in the municipality of La Oliva, after having entered cardiorespiratory arrest after suffering a drowning.
At 12:42 pm today, the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands received several alerts in which it was communicated that some people had taken a man with symptoms of drowning from the sea.
The 1-1-2 immediately activated the necessary emergency resources and a medical coordinator of the SUC, present in the operating room, carried out the corresponding interrogation with an alerter. He found that the affected person was in cardiorespiratory arrest and indicated through telecare how to practice resuscitation maneuvers until the arrival of health resources. Later, the staff of the SUC and the health center of the area confirmed that the bather remained in cardiorespiratory arrest and continued to practice advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers without obtaining results, finally confirming his death.
