FUE Airport in the most punctual airports
#1
Travel analyst OAG has just revealed its Punctuality League for year 2018, naming the airports with the world's best timekeeping. Checking almost 60 million records of flights they came up with these results:

For the third year in a row, the most punctual mega airport (30 million+ seats) is Japan's Tokyo Haneda  with 86.75% flights on time.

The top major airport (20 - 30 million seats) is Minneapolis-Saint Paul with 85.72% on time flight.

The top large airport (10 - 20 million seats) is Japan's Osaka Airport with 88.45% on-time performance

Birmingham Airport is the top medium airport (5 - 10 million seats), with on-time performance of 89.52%.

Tenerife North is the top small airport (2.5 - 5 million seats), with 90.05% of flights arriving or departing on schedule. The airport is also the only airport in the world to achieve OTP of over 90% this year.

Fuerteventura (FUE) has climbed the rankings this year to 75%, finally making Top 20 in the world for the first time.

Checking more stats it looks like 75% is still quite high number. Ibiza & Palma Mallorca for example had both only 56% on time performance and Spanish national average is 63%.

Its definition of on-time performance is flights that arrive or depart within 15 minutes of their scheduled times.

Not bad Stats

In the way they calculate them due they weight them or should I say make an allowance for when a plane arrive late due to Weather conditions at the originating airport? We were once delayed by almost 3 hours due to snow at Leeds B  not Fuerteventura's or really LB fault  Sad Sad
