The City of La Oliva presents this year a very special Fiestas de La Candelaria in the capital of the municipality, from Thursday January 31st until Tuesday February 5th. The main day will be this Saturday February 2, counting as a novelty with the celebration of an attractive musical event.
The Latin Festival of La Candelaria is celebrated on the night of this Saturday, February 2, at the Plaza de La Oliva (9:30 pm), with performances by invited bands such as the Johnny Maquinaria Orchestra and the Rikabanda Orchestra, and the local groups Candela, Arena and Dj Abián Reyes.
Since the Department of Celebrations has been prepared a general program for all audiences, jointly with the Root Association of the People.
Guacimara González, Councilor for Culture and Celebrations, reported on some "La Candelaria Festivities that will feature important Events such as the Verbena de Antaño, an exhibition of photos from the 80s, children's activities, the Canarian ball tournament, or the presentation of a book. A program with a lot of love that will have its main day on Saturday, November 2, at noon with the traditional religious function and at night with the Latin festival that we hope everyone will enjoy ".
The City Council of La Oliva account for the development of this program with the collaboration of the Cultural Association Root of the People, the Ministry of Culture of the Council and neighbors, and with the support of the Department of Works and Services in the assembly work.

Thursday, January 31
7:00 p.m. Inauguration of the Photo Exhibition "Fuerteventura años 80" by Rafael Morales Cedrés, Majorero photographer.
Place: Raiz del Pueblo Cultural Association.
Friday, February 1
6:30 p.m. Canarian Ball Tournament "Fiestas de La Candelaria".
Place: Bar La Oliva.
9:00 p.m. Verbena de Antaño with Grupo Popular Tababaire, Sal de Espuma, Los Vera Orchestra and Jacomar.
Place: Plaza Ntra. Sra. De La Candelaria.
Saturday February 2
12:00 h. Solemn religious function and subsequent procession in honor of Our Lady Virgin of La Candelaria.
9:30 p.m. Latin Festival "La Candelaria" with the performances of Johnny Maquinaria Orchestra, Rikabanda Orchestra, Candela Groups, Arena Group and Dj Abián Reyes.
Place: Plaza Ntra. Sra. De La Candelaria.
Sunday, February 3
12:30 h. Mass and blessing of the laces in honor of San Blas.
4:00 p.m. Children's party with inflatables.

6:00 p.m. Show Floon children's show.

Tuesday, February 5
7:00 p.m. Presentation of the book "Brief history of Fuerteventura", by the historian Roberto Hernández Bautista.
