Flights diverted to FUE because of Calima and winds
#1
Noticias:

Several flights diverted by haze and wind from the southeast of Lanzarote to Fuerteventura. (Saturday)

During the day today visibility will be reduced to 3,000 meters by the intrusion of a strong calima.
Up to four planes coming from central Europe had to be diverted from Lanzarote's César Manrique airport to El Matorral airport in Fuerteventura.

The day of Saturday was complicated at the César Manrique airport, where the wind and the calima caused several flights to be diverted to Fuerteventura. The Twitter account of Air Traffic Controllers claimed that up to four planes coming from Bilbao, Düsseldorf, Nottingham and Gran Canaria could not land in Lanzarote.

For this Sunday the island is in yellow warning for dust in suspension, being able to reduce visibility to 3,000 meters. As for the wind, it will blow from the moderate southeast with intervals of strong at noon, and with some occasional very strong gust on the west slopes.

Forecast Monday, February 13

AEMET has not activated any yellow warning for calima for Monday, but everything indicates that there will be a lot of dust in suspension. The maximum temperatures will not change or in slight decrease and the minimums may experience a slight rise.

Finally, the wind will blow from the moderate southeast with intervals of strong at noon, and with some occasional very strong gust on the west slope during midday.
