Radio Sintonia:
The National Police warns of a scam in job portals offering fraudulent jobs.
Agents of the National Police of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, have had the knowledge of a scam on employment websites, where jobs were offered through the impersonation of the official body of the S.E.P.E (Public Service State Employment).
The complaint of the representative of the SEPE in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, informed the National Police that several people had come to their offices showing the announcement of a fraudulent job offer.
From the same agency it was possible to verify, thanks to the evidence provided by several victims, that said advertisement in job portals supplanted the official body. Upon entering the link, a document was downloaded with the official acronyms and logos of the S.E.P.E, where they requested the identification document such as the DNI or NIE, bank account number and a photo.
Up to 1,500 people could have accessed this link and submitted their personal data. The National Police has opened an investigation to clarify the facts and identify all possible victims.
If you have been one of these victims, go to the nearest National Police Station and make the corresponding complaint, providing if possible all the evidence you may have.
Safety Tips
An official body will never request personal data such as bank account number by web links, because we must suspect a scam.
The official emails of the S.E.PE end in @sepe.es, so there is suspicion of any email account with another ending, since they may surely be fraudulent accounts.
Never access the link they send us, as they may lead to fraudulent websites or facilitate access to our personal data.
If in doubt, contact the official body before providing personal data.
