Arrested a "multidisciplinary" band that performed in Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Fuerteventura.
They stole equipment, antennas, photovoltaic installations, received stolen objects, trafficked drugs and had two industrial buildings for this purpose.
Agents of the National Police and the Civil Guard have arrested ten people in Gran Canaria, aged between 23 and 68 years old, two of them with numerous Police records, as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of robbery with force, belonging to a criminal organization, reception, drug trafficking and road safety.
The Police investigation began last November 2022, after the agents learned that there had been several robberies in installations of mobile phone repeater antennas and photovoltaic solar infrastructures, where they stole power supply batteries, wiring, electronic equipment and photovoltaic panels, causing significant damage to the population since they interrupted the service given by the companies holding the effects to the citizens who hired their services, in addition to the economic losses for the companies that owned the facilities.
This group committed the criminal acts in isolated places, especially in Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Fuerteventura, using technical means such as radial saws powered by batteries, since in the places they were targeted they did not have access to electric current, in addition to crowbars and shears. All this material was used, not only to access the place of theft, but also to be able to manipulate the stolen objects, requiring a high level of professional training.
The investigators were able to determine that the group, which moved between islands to commit the robberies by sea, used for the transport of the stolen material, rented or second-hand vehicles where they did not change the ownership, all to hinder the investigation and its identification.
In the course of the Police operation, three searches were carried out in homes and industrial buildings, two in the town of Telde and one in the town of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, where 45 solar panels, 19 batteries, 2 inverters and 3 converters were recovered, and where, in addition, 2,900 grams of hashish, more than 500 grams of cocaine and 85 grams of heroin were seized.
