Happy Plants garden centre, Tefia
#1
What an oasis this place is! I find it easy to spend a good 1-2 hours wandering through and looking at everything and always end buying 1 or 2 or 3 …… plants.  Big Grin
Found several new/different things there today including a wisteria tree (blue flowers, not white) which I couldn't resist, and a wild poinsettia and, and!
The owners, Saskia and Paul,  have amazing knowledge about growing on the island and are always willing to share their knowledge. All their plants have been tested growing on the island before they will sell the variety and a lot are grown themselves from seed, from Australia, South Africa etc.

Find them on Facebook where there are loads of photos:

At this time of year I believe they are open 9am-6pm Weds - Sun.

They also have a big selection of pots and saucers and they have various bags of composts according to whether you are planting in the ground or in pots. I love seeing the mature plants they have in the ground as it gives a much better idea of how much space they will need in your garden.

If only I was 30 years younger and had oodles of Money to buy the business ………..

They've been trying to sell for years Sam but I'm sure it was priced higher several years ago.

I am sure Tamara is correct it was for sale four years ago, I remember him telling me he wanted to move to South Africa, and the asking price was more than that.

I think Tamara should buy it, after all, she is our horticultural expert on this site (as well as being an ace reporter!!).

I would have thought it would be a difficult business to sell, for a number of reasons, it is a very specialised business particularly on this Island, how to you relace his expertise? and I am assuming the taxes involved selling a business of this type would involve the same taxes as selling a house? and who is going to spend close to half a million Euros to buy work?

It would be a great loss, Sam.

Thanks for the votes guys but the chasm between an enthusiastic amateur and what is needed here is a bit like the Grand Canyon! I think what it needs is something like the RHS in the UK to take it over and use it as a training and experimental centre.
