Arrested for 28 fraudulent rental scams in Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria
  • The alleged perpetrator of the Events advertised through a well-known web portal the rental of properties very well located at more than affordable prices.
Agents of the National Police have arrested in Las Palmas de G.C. a 26-year-old man, with a Police record, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of continuous fraud. It advertised, through a well-known web portal, the rental of very well located properties at more than affordable prices.

It demanded immediate payments as a reservation or first monthly payment, using in some cases apps such as Bizum and in other bank transfers to front men, who were nothing more than disadvantaged people who agreed to provide the detainee with their personal data in exchange for a small consideration.
The investigation began in June of last year, following the first complaints received in reference to several rentals advertised on a well-known web portal.
On the aforementioned website, several properties located in the towns of Las Palmas de G.C, Arrecife and Puerto del Rosario were located, all of them very attractive, since they were well located, were offered at more than affordable prices and showed attractive images. The investigators were able to verify the relationship between them and the main investigated, a 26-year-old with a Police record for similar Events.
The data provided by the victims of the false rentals allowed to verify that the payments were made through apps such as Bizum, in some cases and through bank transfers in favor of front men in others, obtaining a fraudulent profit of approximately 15,000 euros.
The Police investigation determined that the aforementioned front men were nothing more than disadvantaged people who had agreed to provide their personal data to the main investigated in exchange for a small consideration.
The Police operation culminated in the arrest of a 26-year-old man, the final beneficiary of the defrauded Money, in addition to two other people related to the Events as investigated.
