The Puerto del Rosario City Council, through the Department of Mobility, has launched an information campaign aimed at users of personal mobility vehicles. This campaign aims to raise awareness among citizens about responsibility in the use of scooters, an increasingly common means of transportation.
Despite the recent entry into force of the Municipal Ordinance, it has been detected that a significant percentage of scooter users ignore it and ride without an approved helmet, with headphones, or exceeding the speed established by 20 km/h, among others. Situations that lead to sanctions and Local Police officers have begun to report to some offenders to raise awareness and sensitize them about the importance of civic behavior on public roads.
The Municipal Ordinance Regulating Sustainable Mobility and Road Safety, definitively approved at the plenary session of April 29 and subsequently published in the Official Gazette of the Province, establishes a regulatory framework that prioritizes sustainable mobility, promoting the use of non-polluting means of transport such as walking, cycling, personal mobility vehicles (PMV) and public transport.
The mayor of Puerto del Rosario, David de Vera, asks for “maximum collaboration so that we can all circulate safely on any road in our city, avoiding recklessness that could lead to serious incidents.”
For her part, the Councilor for Mobility, Toñi Fdez. Aragón, added that “scooters can be dangerous for both pedestrians and drivers. With this campaign, we intend that both users and citizens in general know the regulations that regulate its use, and thus avoid having to impose sanctions for inappropriate use."
