#1
Radio Sintonia:

Almost 4 million euros for the construction of the Insular Residence of Mental Health.

The Cabildo de Fuerteventura, through the ministries of Social Action and Infrastructure, has awarded the construction works of the Socio-sanitary Residence of Mental Health of insular character. This resource will be located in Puerto del Rosario and will lead to 30 new residential places for people with mental illness.

More than 4 thousand square meters and an investment of almost 4 million euros
The works have been awarded for almost 4 million euros to the UT Taller de Construcción TMR, with an execution period of 12 months. The center will have an area of 4,279 square meters and will be located, specifically, on Aragon Street in Puerto del Rosario.

The Mental Health Socio-Health Residence is part of the cooperation agreement between the Cabildo and the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands to co-finance the construction of infrastructures and reform of existing ones to create new socio-sanitary places on the Island. The Government of the Canary Islands is responsible for 70.83% of the funding.

Commitment to Mental Health
The president of the Cabildo, Lola García, highlights the commitment of the island Corporation "to improve the quality of life of people, which means having the socio-sanitary infrastructures they need. They are resources that will allow them to have social and health care as they deserve, in addition to being highly demanded by family members and caregivers, given the stress they suffer from exhaustion or inability to combine this care with their working life. "

For his part, the Minister of Social Action, Víctor Alonso, points out that it is "a fundamental resource for Fuerteventura, which will allow users to offer permanent care, psychosocial and health care, as well as programs to improve personal autonomy".

Víctor Alonso also explains that "this much-needed infrastructure will be in the vicinity of the Insular Center for Attention to Disability, which houses a common area, Day Center and Insular Residence for people with disabilities, as well as a therapeutic pool. As for this last resource, work is being done to have soon the tender for the pool, necessary to provide services to people dependent on the resources that are the competence of the Cabildo. "

For the Minister of Infrastructure, Blas Acosta, "it is important to accelerate socio-health facilities to increase the services provided to dependent people. This is one of the decided bets and commitments acquired in this legislature ".

It's really encouraging to see such a significant investment in mental health facilities. Having a dedicated space like this can make a big difference for people struggling with mental health issues and their families. And the fact that it's going up near other supportive services should make it even more effective.
