The Strait of La Bocaina could be a marine reserve.
The general director of Fisheries, Carmelo Dorta, visited yesterday the fishermen's guilds of Corralejo and Playa Blanca (Fuerteventura) to address together with the major employers the fishing management of La Bocaina and the possibility of a marine reserve in that area, among other issues.
The Strait of La Bocaina is the arm of the sea that separates the islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, measures fifteen kilometers and has a maximum depth of 160 meters. In past times it was a great plain by which Fuerteventura and Lanzarote joined in a single island.
