Loud rumble felt in the north of Fuerteventura and south of Lanzarote.

At about 15:30 p.m. on Friday, dozens of residents of the north of Fuerteventura and the south of Lanzarote have been surprised by a loud rumble and feeling of tremor in their homes and workplaces. In the first instance, CECOES has reported that no damage of any kind has been recorded.

The scare of the neighbors has made them report many calls to 112 worried about the situation. As Noticias Fuerteventura has learned, many of the neighbors and workers of the town of Playa Blanca, in Lanzarote, confirm that in addition to the noise they have seen how the windows trembled.

The National Geographic Institute (IGN) had reported that in the early hours of Thursday there have been several tremors in the Canary Islands, the largest magnitude being 3.1 mbLg. This latest Earthquake took place near the islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, at a depth of 33 kilometers.

So far, it is unknown if the loud noise registered today in Playa Blanca is related to the tremors that occurred in previous days in the area. The 112 has confirmed that there has been no seismic movement confirmed by IGN. Nor an explosion at sea this fact confirmed by Maritime Rescue.

In addition, after the consultations of the 112 to different organisms, it is ruled out that it was caused by a jet aircraft, seismic movement or explosion. It could be related to a storm nucleus near the islands in that time interval.

The authorities are investigating the incident to determine the causes of it and ensure the safety of citizens.
