Military check for rural property purchase
#1
Has any UK citizen recently completed a rural property purchase?  We are about to make a purchase in La Olivia Rural and have discovered this legislation dating from the Franco period that now applies to UK citizens as we are no longer in the EU.

We need to have permission from the Ministry of Defence to make the purchase. (More commonly known as the Military Check).

It starts with us getting a Criminal Records Check from the UK (https://www.acro.police.uk/s/).

Then I'm a bit confused.  The certificate needs have an Apostille...Is that done in the UK, or is it something the solicitor can do here.

I know it then needs an official translation, and I assume our solicitor here will deal with that.

Any recent experiences would be useful and please send by private message if you prefer not to post openly on the forum (I will post a summary of anything received by without identifying 'who said what'.

Thanks in anticipation.

Tom.

I have no idea about the Military Check - good luck with that!

But I do have experience with getting UK docs Apostiled. If you search online you can find the address of the Apostile service in the UK. I had my docs (copy birth and marriage certs) sent direct to the Apostile Service, paid the fees, and then the docs complete with Apostiles were sent to me.
