In search of solutions to rehabilitate and put into operation the Motocross Circuit of Puerto del Rosario.
The Plenary Session of the Cabildo Insular de Fuerteventura has approved today, Friday, March 31, unanimously, the motion to declare the Motocross Circuit of Puerto del Rosario of Public Interest for its regularization and commissioning.
Temporary access
The president of the Insular Institution, Sergio Lloret, said in the plenary session that "the roadmap to solve the problems" presented by the sports facility is already defined. "We've tried to improve the circuit as much as we can. We tried to have temporary access after managing the permit with the owners. And the problem of access is going to be solved from the Road Service, "explained the president.
The motion includes contemplating the realization of new accesses to the Circuit, works that are already being executed, as explained by Lloret; in addition to improving the services required by the route with shaded public areas, bathrooms, changing rooms, irrigation system and all those facilities "necessary to have a circuit that allows us to host official tests of first level", explains the text approved by the whole of the Plenary.
The insular president explained that the Road Service will be responsible for guaranteeing access. "What is going to be done now is a temporary detour. It is already agreed with the Road Service and the budget approved. We have been working on this issue for two years and little longer. Those are our priorities."
A new project to obtain the opening license
Also, after today's approval, the Cabildo will work on providing the Circuit with the necessary machinery for its maintenance, which is why the Insular Institution will work on contracting a new project or modifying the existing one with the aim of obtaining the opening license of the enclosure.
The Vice President and Minister of Sports, Juan Nicolás Cabrera, said that "we agree to support the majorero sport and have this motocross circuit. But you also have to listen to people, as this is a sport of public interest."
In this sense, as part of the content of the motion, the plenary session approved to carry out a study of the situation of motocross athletes in Fuerteventura, so that the mechanisms that are necessary to guarantee the best sports and safety conditions that an activity of these characteristics requires are established.
Lloret said, in this sense, that "things have to be done well to have a circuit in conditions, because this is a risk sport. However, we are going to try to carry out these works as soon as possible, leaving the contracted project in this Legislature. The drafting of the specifications will be in a week."
