It's a true mystery. The airport is closed during the night. But every night I am woken by one or two planes coming into land around 3 - 3.30 am, although this week it has been a bit later around 4.00a.m. I asked a Guardia friend of mine and he had no idea, and he in turn asked his mate who works at the airport. They knew nothing. Short of staying up all night to take photos or a video, I cannot prove I hear these, but I do!!!
Is anyone else aware of this?

I can not say we hear them every night Em, but yes aircraft do land in the early hours, and when i asked my Guardia mate all I got was a Spanish shrug and " probably military "

Hasn’t Fuerte been designated a little while ago as the overnight emergency Canaries airport taking over from Tenerife ? Still, I can’t believe that would lead to regular arrivals

Could it be the army? Can't find any info about it online but I remember hearing a plane to fly above our heads in the middle of the night, once.
