Torres announces the next tender for the work of the Airport-Pozo Negro highway.
The meeting that the President of the Government, and Secretary General of the PSOE, Ángel Victor Torres held with business representatives of the island at the Corralejo Bay de Barceló hotel in the northern town, left several headlines related to the infrastructures demanded by the island.
At the business meeting, Torres was accompanied by the Secretary of Organization of the Socialists, Nira Fierro, the Deputy Secretary General Rosa Bella Cabrera and the Deputy Secretary Spokesperson Elena Máñez, as well as the insular General Secretary Blas Acosta and other positions of the Socialist Party of Fuerteventura.
The president of the government advanced, to questions from the president of the Chamber, Juan Jesus Rodríguez, the involvement with the port infrastructure of the Corralejo dock, while endorsing the business demands of recovering maritime connectivity with the African continent, with the line from Fuerteventura to Tarfaya, for this he explained how "relations between Spain and Morocco have been normalized", which in his opinion is a value to recover the line.
In that sense, he announced that he will make an official trip to the Alawite kingdom, "as is tradition in the Governments of the Canary Islands" and will try to confirm the reality of the creation of the line.
North-South Axis
But the big headline of the afternoon was the announcement of the next tender for the work of the Airport-Pozo Negro section of the north south axis of Fuerteventura. This new stretch of highway will have a route of 18.1 kilometers in length and will have four links, the airport, the El Castillo Link, the Las Salinas Link and the Antigua Link.
"The new road makes the same route as the current FV-2, but with fewer kilometers, with a double road with four lanes that will allow to circulate at 120 kilometers per hour and, above all, with a more respectful route with the environment of the environment," said Sebastían Fránquiz in a press release a few weeks ago.
With this tender, Public Works will begin works "valued at just over 150 million euros to continue expanding the highway that makes up the North-South Axis of Fuerteventura".
