Contract for tarmacking the track has now been signed and the contractors have been given seven months to complete the work. It will follow the old track exactly so no need for compulsory purchases of land.

Completion of the works on the semi-link to Parque Holandes.

It opens to the public a road long awaited by residents of the northern town by communicating with the Corralejo-Puerto del Rosario highway

The Cabildo de Fuerteventura, through the area of Roads, directed by Blas Acosta, has completed the interconnection works of the semi-link of the FV-1 motorway with the town of Parque Holandés, in the municipality of La Oliva. These works are promoted by the Island Corporation, with the aim of improving the connection with the highway and contributing to saving time and fuel for residents.

The president of the Cabildo, Lola García, celebrates the fact that a long-awaited road is finally put into operation, which means a saving of about seven kilometers for the residents of Parque Holandés. The works have been part of the Island Plan of Cooperation for the works and services of municipal competences of Fuerteventura (PICOS) and which has funding from the FDCAN.

The Minister of Roads, Blas Acosta, explained that "with the commissioning of the road, a claim that has been coming for a long time to be able to connect Parque Holandés with Corralejo is fulfilled". Likewise, Acosta expressed the commitment of the Cabildo to initiate all the procedures so that this semi-link becomes a true link to be able to also have a connection in the direction of Puerto del Rosario.

Blas Acosta explained that, with around eight months of execution, the project has had an investment of 1.8 million euros. The works have been carried out by the La Oliva Road Joint Venture, formed by Construcciones Rodríguez Ramírez (CORORASA) and Tecnología de la Construcción y Obras Públicas (TECOPSA).

For his part, the mayor of La Oliva, Isaí Blanco, said that "from the City Council we are very satisfied with the completion of the work. A demand from many years ago by the neighbours, to improve connectivity with Parque Holandés".

The works consisted of the paving and conditioning of an existing 2.7-kilometre-long local road, improving the connection between the semi-junction of the FV-1 motorway and the urban area of Parque Holandés. The route runs entirely along the pre-existing road, providing the road with the necessary vertical and horizontal signalling elements. As for the intersection with Avenida Primero de Mayo in Parque Holandés, a roundabout link has been made, so that road safety is guaranteed. A new bus stop has also been built between the new roundabout and the FV-104.

The reception ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Transport, Luis González, representatives of the companies and residents of Parque Holandés.
