I didn't realise this practice still happened but as I was driving through Los Estancos on FV10 from Puerto del Rosario at about 6pm today I was lucky enough to see 2 guys ploughing a small plot with the help of a camel. I was pushed for time and couldn't turn around and go back for a picture but it was like one of the old pics come to life - magical!

Brilliant Tamara. Great thing to see. Guess it won’t be long before this is ancient history. Amazing how times have changed, I remember milking cows by hand as a youth in Ireland

Me too Ron, I think I was about 7 when I leaned on my uncles farm, they gave me a3 legged stool to sit on as I wasn’t big enough to balance on a 2 legged stool with my head balanced up against the cow. Many’s the mouthful of arm milk I had sprayed into my mouth by my uncle. Many’s the ***** I had dropped on me as well in them days. My uncle had a dairy farm with about 30 cows and that was 50+ yeas ago. I used love going to the creamery with him, and bringing home the sky m for the calves.
