Radio Sintonia:
Cabildo's Environmental Agents locate a poacher in the Malpaís de La Arena.
The Environmental Agents Service of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, last February, detected the presence of a person with six Bonelli's dogs carrying out the hunting action, in the southern area of the Protected Natural Area "Monumento Natural Malpaís de la Arena" in the municipality of La Oliva.
The agents of the Environment proceeded to identify it and inform the Environment and Hunting Service of the Cabildo, for a proposal of infraction for hunting outside the closed season, with aggravating circumstances because it coincides with the nesting period of birds, both hunting and protected.
The Ministry of Environment and Hunting communicates that the training camps for dogs are not currently open to the public and their next opening will be publicized by the Cabildo.
The Cabildo requests the collaboration of citizens so that, in the case of detecting any illegality they observe in the field, they notify the corresponding authorities: Environmental Agents, Local Police and Civil Guard.
Likewise, the Ministry of Environment and Hunting reports that, in the current breeding season, the different species become more vulnerable. For this reason, it is essential that citizens become aware of the importance of adopting responsible practices in natural environments: respecting the signs and walking through the permitted areas or controlling pets are some of the key actions. The protection of biodiversity depends on the collaboration and commitment of each person.
