La Oliva is the municipality that has grown the most in terms of population in the last decade
The island of Fuerteventura, in addition, the one that grows the most in percentage terms in the entire archipelago

 In the last decade - The island of Tenerife continues to be the most populated island with 927,993 inhabitants, followed by Gran Canaria with 852,688, Lanzarote with 156,189, Fuerteventura with 119,662, La Palma with 83,380, La Gomera with 21,734 and El Hierro with 11,298.

In percentage terms, Fuerteventura is the island that has grown the most with 12.4%, which translates into 13,206 people since 2012, followed closely by Lanzarote with 9.89% and 14,057 more people. Gran Canaria remains almost on a par, Tenerife grows and has 29,313 more inhabitants. El Hiero also grows with 2.4% more inhabitants, but La Palma with a fall of 2.4% and La Gomera with 2.8% less have lost inhabitants in the last decade.

Together with the island of Tenerife, the islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are the ones that continue to grow in number of inhabitants and the ones that suffer the most from the new demographic pressure in relation to the existing infrastructures. These data must also be viewed with a magnifying glass, since in the last two years economic and demographic growth has been negative due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

 In this sense, the increase in inhabitants, together with the increase in post-pandemic tourists, is generating sensations of lack of resources and infrastructure. Problems with water, problems with sanitation, problems with the road network multiply as the population grows.
