History of the corral del concejo
The corrals of the council were circular stone constructions where the cattle that had escaped gathered. The cattle were captured and deposited in these buildings for safekeeping when they were found in the fields of a neighbor. Once the owner of the animal was found, he had to pay for the damages caused to the affected person. The corral of the council was administered by the mayors of the villages pedáneos to the corral itself, and acted as mediators between the affected person and the owner of the animal.
