Puerto del Rosario will have 56 new protected houses.
In a statement issued by the Government of the Canary Islands it is reported that the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Housing, directed by Sebastián Franquis, has put on the market a promotion of 56 new private homes with official protection for rent, in Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura, after subsidizing with an item of 489,004 euros to the majorera developer Bonete Garden S.L. for the completion of the works of this lot of houses that You were paralyzed.
Expansion of the housing market
The aforementioned company obtained this subsidy after attending, together with other private developers, in the call made by the Canary Islands Housing Institute (ICAVI) for a new line of aid aimed at promoting the expansion of the stock of protected housing in the Autonomous Community in collaboration with the private sector. This aid is part of Program 5 of the Canary Islands Housing Plan (2020-2025) that seeks to promote public-private collaboration to expand the market for rental housing at affordable prices and at the same time help conclude private developments that were left half-built due to lack of budget.
This promotion, whose works have just been completed thanks to the ICAVI grant, are located on Pelayo and Hernán Cortes streets, in the municipality of Puerto del Rosario, and tenant families will be able to enter their new homes next week. The aid of the Government of the Canary Islands will allow this private promotion of 56 homes to have official protection for 30 years and, therefore, to be destined to families registered in the Register of Housing Applicants of the municipality whose income does not exceed four times the IPREM (Public Indicator of Income of Multiple Effects), that is, those annual incomes less than 31,632 euros.
The new homes include parking space and storage room and vary in size from 47 square meters, with a maximum rent of 272 euros per month, to 90 square meters, with a rent of 561 euros per month.
Affordable housing
The ICAVI granted the subsidy to the company Bonete Garden S.L. at the end of 2021, after submitting to the public call for aid together with other companies, which allowed this promoter to complete 63% of the works of the new promotion that were still pending execution for several years. With the completion of this promotion, the company that owns the building undertakes to allocate the 56 homes to the general rental regime for the next ten years, respecting the qualification of protected housing for 30 years. In this way, these homes will be available during all this time for the housing seekers of the municipality.
The counselor Sebastián Franquis, in the presentation of the Housing Plan 2020-2025 defended the need to promote public-private collaboration to increase the number of homes at an affordable price in the market, and to that end a line of subsidies for private developers with half-finished homes was launched in 2021. For this purpose, 2,458,364 euros were allocated that will allow to finish and make available to families with fewer resources, 208 new homes of private developers in the municipalities of Santa Úrsula, Santa Lucía de Tirajana and this promotion of Puerto del Rosario.
