The situation of cruise ships remains the same for Gran Tarajal
The public entity Puertos Canarios maintains its relationship with the Medcruise association and promotes contacts with other specialized entities, such as Promotur, to enhance the role of the ports dependent on the Autonomous Community, highlights its managing director, José Gilberto Moreno, in communication with the editor of puentedemando.com.
The initial information, from the same digital magazine, and echoed by Noticias Fuerteventura, explained that Puertos Canarios was leaving Medcruise, an issue that is now being rectified. From this digital we apologize for publishing the inaccurate article.
Moreno reaffirms that Puertos Canarios maintains its relationship with the Medcruise association. "We are still partners in force, as I have been able to see personally," he stresses.
In line with the presence of tourist cruises in the ports of the Autonomous Community with the capacity to do so, it is intended to maintain and promote the presence of this type of traffic, which generates an added local economy.
At the same time, Puertos Canarios is developing a new strategy and approach to port management, prioritising the promotion and development of marinas in the Canary Islands, as a formula to boost the local economy and create employment.
Puertos Canarios aims not only to guarantee the continuity of these facilities, but also to encourage concessionaire companies to make significant investments to improve and modernise existing infrastructures, as these represent a valuable opportunity to improve the destination and promote the economic and social development of the islands.
In this sense, there is the possibility of developing "ecoport" projects, which allow the regional administration to implement a comprehensive program of prevention, location, removal and analysis of marine litter, from its origin on land to the sea. For this reason, both the public entity and the Ministry are committed to coordination with the port authorities of the two provinces to position the Canary Islands ports as geostrategic points in the Atlantic.
