Hi guest and welcome to the Fuerteventura forum. This is just a reminder of mandatory masks almost everywhere on the island.

Some mobile operators to re-introduce roaming charges from January 2022
#1
BACK IN January (2021), THE UK’S BIGGEST OPERATORS – EE, O2, THREE, AND VODAFONE – ALL SAID THEY HAS NO PLANS TO REINTRODUCE ROAMING CHARGES. WELL, GUESS WHAT, THEIR PLANS CHANGED!

Roaming charges on EE will be reintroduced from January 2022. If your pay monthly plan and your contract started before July 7, 2021 then these changes will not affect you. If your pay monthly handset or SIM plan started on or after July 7, 2021 there will be a daily charge for using your phone in EE’s European roaming zones from January 2022. EE customers can use their minutes, texts, and data allowances in EE’s European roaming zone for £2 a day or for £10 a month with a Roam Abroad add-on. Here’s how the new charges will work:

One low fixed daily payment of £2 per day
You don’t need to do anything to opt-in: if you use your allowances you’ll pay £2 for that day, and if you don’t, you won’t be charged anything
All your allowances work just like at home – and you can buy more data if you need to.

O2 covers roaming in their Europe Zone as part of the Tariffs. So your data (subject to a roaming limit), minutes and text allowances will work in the Europe Zone, just like at home. If your UK monthly data allowance is over 25GB, you’ll have a Roaming Limit of 25GB when roaming in our Europe Zone. This means you can use up to 25GB of your allowance at no extra cost. You will be charged at £3.50/GB for use above 25GB.

You are able to make calls and send texts back home or within our Europe Zone, like you’d normally do in the UK.

Vodafone‘s post-Brexit blow means new and upgrading customers will have to pay up to £2 per day to use their monthly allowance of data, calls and texts. Vodafone users will be able to reduce the cost to £1 per day by purchasing a multi-day pass for eight or 15 days.

Three is bringing back charges, despite previously saying roaming costs would not return after Brexit. which will apply in almost 50 European territories as well as two dozen other international destinations.

A £2 daily charge would apply when customers who have taken out a new contract or upgrade from 1 October use their phones in European countries. The charges do not come into effect until 23 May 2022.

MANY SMALLER UK NETWORKS HAVE YET TO REVEAL PLANS BUT HAVE PUT OUT STATEMENTS AS FOLLOWS:

Sky Mobile – “Sky Mobile customers will not be charged roaming charges in EU countries and will be able to continue to use their data, call and text allowances as they do in the UK.”

Tesco Mobile – “‘We have no current plans to reintroduce EU roaming charges.”

iD Mobile (Carphone Warehouse) – “At iD Mobile, we remain committed to providing our customers with great value plans that they can use at home and in 50 destinations worldwide. We are constantly reviewing the offers and services we provide to ensure the best value for our customers and will update customers as needed should anything change.”

Giffgaff – “We here at giffgaff are aware of some telcos re-introducing roaming charge changes to those traveling from the UK to the EU. At present, we have no immediate plans to reintroduce roaming charges to our members (what we call our customers) traveling to the EU.”
