The Cabildo launches training to assist injured marine fauna.
This initiative is specially designed for volunteer networks interested in the protection and preservation of the marine species of the Islands
The Ministry of Environment of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, in collaboration with the Avanfuer Association and the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, has organized a masterclass of primary assistance to injured marine fauna. This training is specially designed for volunteer networks interested in the protection and preservation of marine species in the Canary Islands.
The masterclass offers a combination of practical and theoretical sessions, focused on teaching participants the protocols to follow in case of encountering injured marine fauna, such as cetaceans, sea turtles or dolphins.
In addition, the training will have the collaboration of experts and veterinarians from the Institute of Animal Health and Food Safety of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (IUSA-ULPGC), who will contribute their experience in this field.
The theoretical session on care in the rescue of cetaceans and turtles is scheduled for Saturday, November 18, at 6:00 p.m., and will take place at the Center for Agroecology and Urban Environment of Puerto del Rosario, located in the neighborhood of El Charco.
The practical part, which includes a dolphin stranding drill, will take place on Sunday, November 19, at 11:00 a.m., on Los Pozos beach, in Puerto del Rosario.
The island institution encourages volunteers and anyone interested in marine fauna to join this learning opportunity to actively contribute to the protection of marine biodiversity on the coasts of Fuerteventura.
