The president of Puertos del Estado, Francisco Toledo, has agreed with the president and director of the Las Palmas Port Authority, Luis Ibarra and Francisco Trujillo, respectively, the 2020-2024 Business Plan, for which an investment of 157 million euros in the period 2020-2022.
In this sense, Ibarra and Trujillo explained in a meeting held by videoconference that the works in Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura) and Arrecife (Lanzarote) will conclude before December 2023, in such a way that the "full development of both ports" will be completed. and the financing of European funds (ERDF) will be used, according to Puertos del Estado reported in a press release.
Likewise, it was indicated that as of today the operation of the South counter-dock of the Naos cruise ship dock in Arrecife (9.3 million euros) has been completed and the commercial dock dock is in the process of environmental evaluation (32 million euros) in the Port of Puerto del Rosario.
In addition, an expansion is planned for the Naos dock in 2021.
Likewise, the Business Plan of the Port Authority of Las Palmas 2020-2024 includes the execution of several groups of conditioning and improvement works.
Thus, from the year 2022, the works will focus on completing the La Esfinge dock in the Port of La Luz and Las Palmas. In this regard, the president of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, Luis Ibarra pointed out that one of the objectives of this second term is focused on "having all the specifications of the port services promoting the philosophy of flat rates" in regard to to port exploitation.
He added that the Authority intends to advance the specification of the waste collection service as a priority for 2021.
On the other hand, with regard to port traffic, he stated that the port of La Luz "is resisting the crisis well with the re-export movements to Africa of liquid bulk, with the berths for changes of crews, supplies and equipment and good frozen fishing march ".
Finally, with regard to cruises, he indicated that the TUI tour operator has requested to start operating the first week of November 2020.
Finally, he affirmed that due to financial solvency, the Port Authority will proceed to cancel the loan it has signed with the EIB at the end of October 2020 and in 2024 it will repay all of the loans signed over the last few years.
