I see Thomas Cook are in the news again and not for good reasons.
They have a lot of coming and goings in Fuerteventura. It would be very bad for the island if they closed up.

Every company could be in the news for good or bad reasons. Let's keep it out of the forum, unless the news is related to Fuerteventura, please. I mean more than Oreo, Nike or Fiat.

he last time we flew with Thomas Cook was a good few years ago. The experience wasn't great nor bad. If I had to pick one bad thing it would be the "only 8kg allowance for the cabin bag" - not a deal breaker, though.

Off the top of my head, they do fly from Fuerteventura to Birmingham BHX, Glasgow GLA, London LGW and Newcastle NCL - handy to know if you're living anywhere near these airports.

Well I’m sure Thomas Cook fill a lot of bed on Fuerteventura every night and a lot of Money could be lost by suppliers to hotels if they go under. If this is not worth mentioning then I don’t know what is. I think Sam with respect you may have watched too many episodes of plesentvill.

We used them 2 summers ago to fly to the Island from Stansted - another operator going down is not good news at all. Not sure if the airline was sold off a few months back just leaving the holiday side. Bad news travels fast so who would risk booking with them when the news and radio is telling you they need a massive cash injection just to stay afloat.

You can say that about any airline operating between the UK and Fuerteventura.

Not sure if cash injection will sort anything out, TBH. I would also be very cautious about booking a flight with Thomas Cook right now. We flew with Monarch (back to the UK) the night before they ceased trading. Departed just a few hours before they announced the sad news.

In my opinion this is a valid post on this forum. Thomas Cook fly a lot of people to & from the island so this IS directly connected with the island. If people cannot post valid information concerning the island (& it IS an island. You either have to fly or sail to get here !!) what is the point of the forum if we can’t post stuff that may concern us all. This is just as relevant as let’s say the bus timetable to Puerto. IMO

Very relevant post in my opinion.
Unless things have changed recently TC are the only airline that fly pets directly to and fro UK and Fuerteventura. I really hope they can overcome their current problems and continue flying people (and animals) between our lovely islands.

TC is the longest running travel agent isn't it? It will be sad to see them go.
We flew with them from EMA when we moved over here permanently in 2017. two adults and 3 dogs, no problems at all.
We wanted to fly Thomson from Stansted but we were told that the cargo hold door wasn't big enough for our larger crate.

I'm sorry everyone.
Not reading /watching the news that often and I assumed this is just the way to get some free publicity. Had finally time to read the whole story and it looks really bad.

Tamara: what's about TUI? Don't they carry dogs in the cargo hold?
