Toilets adapted for Ostomised people at airports
#1
Tamara - earlier this year we had pet toilets. Nice to know which order of improvements they think is important! Not complaining, just amused, pleased to all improvements.

Noticias:

AENA places two toilets for ostomized people at Fuerteventura airport.

The eight airports of Aena in the Canary Islands open more than twenty toilets adapted to meet the needs of these people.
These toilets, already in operation, are located in the arrival, check-in and boarding areas of the island airports and have a sanitary device located at the appropriate height, a soap and toilet paper dispenser, a bag rinser (small caliber hand shower connected to the water) and two bag or clothes hangers.

With this action, Aena seeks to improve the experience of these passengers during their transit through airport facilities and promote their integration into common spaces.

For the adequacy of these services, the airports of the Canary Islands have had the advice of several associations related to inflammatory, intestinal and ostomy diseases, which have provided suggestions for their correct authorization, among them, that the signage specifies that they are facilities for the exclusive use of ostomized people.

Around 70,000 people are currently carrying an ostomy in Spain and, according to data from the Association of Ostomized of Tenerife (AOTEN), there are more than 3,200 ostomized people on the islands.

In the case of Gran Canaria Airport, four toilets have been placed for ostomized people: two in the boarding area and another two in the check-in area. Specifically, they have been located in the bathrooms for People with Reduced Mobility (PRM) of check-in areas 1 (next to check-in counter 101) and 3 (behind check-in counters 320 to 322), in the annex of boarding gate B16 (next to the Relay store) and in the central restaurant area of the boarding area (annex to the Enrique Tomás restaurant point).

For its part, Tenerife South Airport has acted on two blocks of toilets, with a total of four adapted spaces. One of them in the public arrivals area (next to the security filter) and another in the boarding area, next to gate B31.

At César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport, two services have been adapted for ostomized people, one in the PMR toilet in the boarding area of terminal 2 and another in the PMR toilet in the north boarding area of terminal 1 (in front of gate 12).

In the case of Fuerteventura, two PMR services have been enabled for ostomized people, one in the south check-in area (next to the pharmacy) and another in the boarding area (next to the Burger King restaurant point).

At Tenerife North Airport-City of La Laguna four toilets have been placed, one of them in the public departures area, another in the baggage claim hall (next to belt 5) and the other two in the boarding area: one in island boarding, on the ground zero, and the other in national boarding, on the first floor. All of them, located inside the toilet for PRM.

La Palma Airport has installed a toilet in the central core of stairs, on the S2 floor, in the public arrivals area and another in the southern part of the departure lounge, near the terrace, next to boarding gates 1, 2 and 3.

Finally, at El Hierro Airport there are two toilets for this purpose, both located in the public arrivals area, in front of the car rental counters, while at La Gomera Airport the adapted toilet is located in the public area, very close to the check-in counters within the PRM service.
