I believe a Visa is required to enter Fuerteventura if you are staying long term but not sure if there is any new documentation required for short term stays i.e. 5 weeks. Can anyone who has recently travelled over let me know please.

I assume you don't have residency. 99.9% of holiday makers pass through the airport with no questions, just a grumpy Police officer who takes great delight in stamping your passport.

However, you can be asked:
Where are you staying, evidence needed.
When is your return flight, booking confirmation needed.
How much Money do you have, bank statement, show cash or cards.

I haven't heard of anyone being stopped and asked these questions for several years, but, be aware, it is possible.

The system changes at some point in the future, was to be November, but now delayed again until next year, where your biometric details are taken (fingerprint and photo). See https://www.gov.uk/guidance/eu-entryexit-system

We warn any family members coming out to be prepared for the items Tom listed.
To date none asked for.
BUT a single male we know was asked to show his return ticket.

For a short stay like five weeks, you don't need a visa if you're from the EU or a few other countries. Just make sure your passport's valid for the whole trip.
I believe for 3 months+ you'll need a visa.

EU nationals never need a visa. They might need to register if they're staying past ninety days but no visa.

Next year when the ETIAS supposedly final comes into being people will need to apply and get that. If they're non EU.
