Radio Sintonia:
In Fuerteventura, the Ministry of Environmental Sustainability, directed by Lola García, has programmed a series of activities on the occasion of World Environment Day, which is celebrated on June 5 of each year. This year's theme. 'One Earth' refers to the need to carry out the changes that our planet needs to allow a cleaner, ecological and sustainable life, in harmony with nature. This program of activities also commemorates World Oceans Day, which is celebrated every June 8.
We have talked about it today on the radio with the Minister of Environmental Sustainability, Lola García, the head of service and marine biologist, Ana Calero and the environmental educator, Mónica Barrera. Cetacean watching activities and visits to intertidal zones are scheduled on June 11 and 12. All the information on the activities will be available in the Environmental Sustainability area of the Website of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, www.cabildofuer.es. The deadline to register will open this Monday, June 6, on that website.
To commemorate World Environment Day and Oceans Day, there will also be a turtle release with schoolchildren. In addition, the fourth workshop of agents and stakeholders of the CAPonLITTER project in Fuerteventura will be presented, which will include a marine litter workshop and a recycling workshop.

As of June 13, the implementation of good practices in protected natural spaces will take on greater prominence, through the action of different environmental promoters in these areas of the Majorera geography.
Finally, on June 23, the Marine Biodiversity Guide will be presented. An educational book that is based on two pillars: education and awareness. This binomial will help its readers not only to find a way in which to discover the peculiarities of the marine species of the Canary Islands, but also, it will make them participants in the marine wealth that surrounds us, without losing sight of the fact that on each page the final intention is clear: let's enjoy our sea, but let's not forget to conserve it.
In 1972 the UN designated June 5 as World Environment Day, during the first day of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm. Another resolution adopted by the General Assembly on the same day led to the establishment of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
