Identified and arrested the author of the theft of five safes in hotels in the south of Fuerteventura
The Civil Guard of Fuerteventura, within the framework of Operation Corsardon, arrested, on August 19, a 27-year-old man with a Police record, for the alleged authorship of five crimes of robberies with force committed between the months of March and August of last year in three hotels in the town of Morro Jable and Costa Calma.
The Benemérita "initiated the investigation from the first communications of those affected by robberies with force not common in the area, since the purpose of the same was to subtract the safes of the hotel rooms," they say in a statement.
With the analysis of the complaints, the Civil Guard the Main Post of Morro Jable was able to verify the relationship of the criminal acts since when the complainants left the rooms to go to dinner, the alleged perpetrator took the opportunity to steal the safes where they kept their Money and their belongings of greater value.
Apparently the procedure of the robberies was very defined, first he forced the doors of the terraces to access the interior of the rooms and once inside, he leveraged with some blunt object the safes. Then, the safes were introduced into the travel suitcases of the clients themselves, to take them out of the hotel without raising any suspicion among the clientele or workers of the hotel itself, going unnoticed as customers.
Once outside the establishment, he moved in a vehicle to open the safes and subtract the valuables that were inside, leaving the safes that were recovered by the Civil Guard.
Police investigation and follow-up
Although the Events occurred in the month of February 2022, the Civil Guard did not stop investigating these facts, since a detailed study of the information collected was initiated, specifically of the manifestations of the injured parties, all the Ocular Technical Inspections were carried out and they studied all the viewings of the security cameras of the affected hotels and the surroundings where the robberies were perpetrated, in order to obtain sufficient evidence to limit the possible authorship of the facts denounced.
All these data made us believe that the alleged perpetrator knew perfectly the hotels where the robberies were committed, establishing by the Civil Guard specific surveillance in the most vulnerable or affected areas. However, the meticulous and rapid action in carrying out the ocular technical inspection in one of the rooms where one of the robberies was committed, some lofoscopic fragments could be extracted that would result in the identification author.
In addition, it was possible to prove that the detainee took advantage of the prison permits to perpetrate the robberies in the south of the island of Fuerteventura, since he was an inmate at the Tahiche Penitentiary Center in Lanzarote on the date of occurrence.
With these evidentiary elements, five crimes against property have been clarified with the arrest of the alleged perpetrator in the town of Puerto del Rosario, continuing the investigation with the aim of recovering the stolen objects, not ruling out new arrests
