I read an article about 3 of these SOS OneUp Totems being installed on PDR beaches in the December issue of Fuerteventura Magazine Hoy and then on NYE came across one on the beach at Pozo Negro.

What they are using to transmit the SOS signal to the emergency services I don't know as I couldn't get a mobile signal at Pozo Negro.

Sam not sure if we have another thread for things like this?
There's one in front of the San Jorge Hotel in Caleta de Fuste.
Probably similar to using a mobile phone to dial emergency services, it will use any network it can get, not tied to your service provider.

I believe you can use a mobile phone without a SIM card and you should be able to reach 112 or 999 number anywhere in the world. The closest tower will direct the call, no matter what.
