Just wondered whether anyone had undertaken the eye test/physical for getting a Spanish licence (I appreciate the exchange has not been confirmed yet).
If so, where was it (we are North of the island), how much, and was it simple to understand? I am studying Spanish but not sure how good I am yet!
TIA :-)
I had mine done about 3 months back, cost around 45€ I cannot remember the exact cost, I took a Spanish-speaking friend, but I am sure I could have coped alone, I will check the cost later and if I am way out I will post again.
Thanks John, much appreciated :-)
I did it without a translator as it is a standard eye test. Read the letters from the chart. Define between the red and green circles on the chart.
Simple!
Tom.
PS. I read the letters in English, and she understood. For the colours, as long as you remember Verde is Green, it's simple.
Ah thanks Tom - I thought I heard there were some reaction tests and some sort of 'video-game' of keeping within a circle etc
Yep, there is a video game! Sort of
Screen with 2 roads on it. 2 cars, each controlled by a different handle on the machine, one hand on left handle, one on right. Keep the cars on the roads as they start twisting and turning. If you go off the road the machine beeps. Don't worry, they are testing your reaction times ,ie how quickly you get back on track!
have a look at this thread for details of one of the places where you can go, and cost:

this place also does your photo if one is needed.
Ah thank you Tamara, so they have just taken the >65 test and are using that? Cool.
I didn't realise they also do the paperwork! I assumed that was the
Police station. A bit paranoid as I want to make sure my m/bike licence gets transferred as well - I have heard of people having categories missed.
Much appreciated as always.
Sorry Bill, perhaps I didn't explain properly. The link I gave was for the over 65s Spanish renewal. I was just using it as an example of the medical, computer test thingy and price, you'll still need to go to
Trafico and do all the paperwork for your first Spanish licence.
I agree with everyone it is nowhere near as daunting as expected.
I had 3 goes with the video "game" as I stopped when it beeped.
Re motor cycle kept my entitlement to it,just as well as its the only reason I go to uk in
August!!
I used the medical place just around the corner from the licencing office.

Ah thanks for the clarification :-)
