Our car battery seems to have given up the ghost. It had been weak for some time, but as of this morning it was a complete non-starter, literally. Fortunately we were just considering a Sunday spin, but the worry of this happening at the side of the road versus at home with no an appointment pending makes me think I'd like to just get it replaced.
Anyone know anywhere in the Caleta/Mattoral/Antigua area likely to have one in stock over the next few days that we can purchase and install ourselves, or is it something likely to need to be ordered in? Or anyone have any recommendations on where to go for this?
Just past Mercadona, a place called Boleca or something very similar, I have an Astra and just drove in, and got one fitted in 10 mins circa 90 Euros, also excellent if you need tyres.
I used El Paso2000 next to the
DISA garage opposite IKEA. They fitted it quickly and were very friendly.
Much appreciated, folks. Will try to get a jump so we can get down there in the next day or two! Wish us luck.

Just wondering, did you make an appointment ahead of time, or just show up? I'm looking on their website and they have nothing available before Wednesday.
I just turned up, no problem.

I just turned up after being jumped started by a neighbour.
Well, we had the insurance's mechanic come jumpstart it with his little battery pack this morning. Let it run as instructed, took it for a short drive after, and as of this evening, it was still starting okay.
We will see where we are tomorrow, but fortunately all warning lights that had popped up with the battery issue also disappeared when the battery was charged, so at worst, we will need to grab a new battery from the garage. Fingers crossed it won't be needed, but at least I know where to go now and that the car is otherwise okay. Thanks, folks! Will keep you updated.
Hopefully it’s not your alternator that needs replacing if it’s not charging the battery
I think you are right Can, i would have serious reservations concerning the alternator.
