As you all can see, the forum is growing pretty fast as well as the number of visitors and more space required. For these reasons we have to move to another (bigger, better, faster) server. Most of the things are done, all I have to set is nameservers (pointing to the other location so the computers can find it) to the new server. I'll set it tonight 10PM so the DNS servers around the planet will have quite a few hours to adjust and stick the new IP tag to the website name.

If there's any hiccup in the process, contact me at click@fuerteventura.click ASAP, please and I'll try my best to fix it.
Just a note of warning.  Different IPS propagate at different times, and it can take up to 72 hours!  If your IPS is still on the old server, any comments will of course not show up on the new server.  So, if suddenly your comments disappear then you will have to repost them
The plan is to disallow any new posts being created in the old location to avoid this scenario. This transfer looks like lots of fun already Big Grin
Good Luck Sam!
Thanks for making the effort to create this place, and keep it running smoothly. I've run admin on other groups before and I know how much work it is, so I just wanted to take the time to say thank you and let you know we all appreciate it! Heart
Sam, you are working miracles with the new forum. It's all in the lap of the god's as to how quickly the new IP address will get distributed around the DNS servers, but I'm sure you are doing your best.

As a mere user of the forum, I'm so thankful for everything you do.

Well done and thanks.

Tom.

Tom.

Thanks guys! I appreciate your words and the time you spend here, helping others.

Tom, you're definitely not a mere user.

22:04 right now; time to make the move.

After this post I'll disallow posting anything else at the old location. If you can reply, your IPS already made the change and you're reading the forum @ its new server. If you can't reply, you simply have to wait for your IPS to acknowledge the change and connect the website with the new IP.

Don't worry, you still will be able to read all new posts at http://217.195.152.105/ You just won't be able to log in or reply until your IPS change the aforementioned settings. It takes anywhere between one hour and three days (under 4 hours in most cases), be patient please.

This is something I (or any webmaster) don't enjoy doing but the transfer was necessary and I hope this is the last time we all have to experience it.
22:40 - it looks like almost everything is done. Forum is at the new location and all seems to work OK at my end. Let us know if you came across any hiccups, please.

...still uploading some photos (attachments) from the old location but anything else looks alright. Will check the rest tomorrow.

Have all a lovely evening, hope this transfer wasn't too stressing for you, at least not as much as for me Big Grin Big Grin
Thanks for all your great work Sam, transition went well for me  Cool
